A pivotal vote Thursday in the Minnesota House positioned that state to become the 12th in the country to allow gay marriages and the first in the Midwest to pass such a law out of its Legislature.

(CNN) — Delaware became the eleventh state in the nation to legalize same-sex marriage Tuesday after the State Senate approved the measure and the state’s governor signed it into law. Gov. Jack Markell, a Democrat, signed the bill following a 12-9 vote in the State Senate passing the measure.

Jason Collins, who played with the NBA’s Washington Wizards this season, has disclosed that he is gay.
